The Smallest Uni in the East
Here is Maeve modeling her new unicycle. To be precise, it's an old uni that's been altered to fit her wee gams. I had Mike the Bike cut down both the frame and the seat post. Unfortunately, due to a sleeve in the frame, the post can't slide down to just above the wheel (as is the case with most unicycles), so at this point, the uni only has one size; in order to raise it, I'll have to cut down other seat posts that are fractionally bigger (as Maeve grows up).
For the time being, it's definitely the smallest unicycle on the East Coast. In fact, you can't make a much smaller unicycle without contacting the Guiness Book of World Records.
Maeve can't ride it yet, but she's looking forward to doing so -- soon. Tomorrow my unicycle club meets again, and Maeve can't wait. Helping Maeve means that I have to lean over to hold her seat from behind, but a bad back is worth it if she's having fun.

Hi Dave - the NYUC email appears to be broken - so here goes -
My friend Ben G. just referred me to you all ( I work for a small non-profit in central Connecticut (http://www.eightmileriver.org/) that works to preserve an amazing rural river watershed. We are having a River Fest on October 13 in East Haddam, CT and are looking for something out of the ordinary to add to the program. Its basically a 3 hour, mid afternoon event featuring the local Drum & Fife Corps, a local bluegrass band, and various cider, donuts and food (plus a few local politicians).
I would love to find a unicyclist and/or juggler performer who would be able to perform at this gig. Can you point me to anyone in particular? We would be able to pay for travel and a performance fee (we have a small budget but would try to offer something fair...) - the beautiful location, music and local food would be a bonus. We are about a two hour train ride up from Union Station or about 1.5 hours driving from the city. We could even put someone up in a tent at my place if they wanted to make a longer day of it...
If you are able, could you contact me via the website above? (hesitant to put my vitals in comment space...
Thanks very much,
Damon Hearne
